Zabel, Rose M. #2 (29 JUN 1928 - 14 FEB 2009)

Rose M. "Rosie" Zabel, 80, Loyal, died on Saturday, Feb. 14, 2009, at Saint Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield. Visitation will be at 9:30 a.m., on Saturday, Feb. 21, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Loyal, until time of a memorial service at 10:39 a.m. The Rv. Zacharie Beya will officiate.

Rose Marie Schmidt was born on June 29, 1928, in Theilman, Minn., to Henry J. and Mary (nee Rauchmann) Schmidt. She was raised on the family farm and received her education in the Theilman area. As a young woman, she worked as a housekeeper in Wabasha, Minn. She married Earl J. Zabel on May 8, 1945, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Theilman. They lived in Kellogg, Minn., for five years before moving to Waukegan, Ill. She worked at Johnson-Manville, in Waukegan, until moving to Loyal in 1958. She worked at the Loyal Cannery seasonally, and after her kids were raised, went to work at Weinbrenner Shoe Factory, Marshfield. She retired in 1992, after 20 years with Weinbrenner Shoes. She resided in Loyal until the time of her death. She was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, the Clark County Homemakers, and served for several years on the town of Beaver election board. She had many interests, but especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, bowling, playing cards, and fishing.

Survivors include her husband, Earl, Loyal ; three children, David (Connie) Zabel, greenwood, Dale Zabel, Loyal, and Debbie (Clifford) Kronebusch, Kellogg, Minn.; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two sisters, Elizabeth Ann Koch, Round Lake, Ill., and Delores Lorenz, Buffalo City; and Two sisters-in-law, Donna Schmidt and Mary Schmidt,

Preceding her in death were her parents; two brothers, Donald Schmidt and Marvin Schmidt; and one half brother, James Schmidt.
