Mews, Betty Jane (Marriage - 2 Sept. 1961)

Miss Betty Jane Mews of Milwaukee, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Mews of Unity, and Elroy Gottschalk, also of Milwaukee, son of Mrs. Adel Gottschalk of Colby, exchanged marriage vows in the Trinity Lutheran church Saturday, Sept. 2, at 3:00 P.M., Rev. Robert Langseth reading the marriage ceremony. Marilyn Messer sang "The Wedding Prayer," accompanied by Mrs. Ansel Messer at the piano.

A white Chantilly lace and silk gown was worn by the bride as she was given in marriage by her father. It had iridescent sequin and lace rosebud trim on the skirt. Her double crown headpiece held a fingertip veil and she carried an arrangement of gladioli, an orchid and carnations.

Miss Doreen Mews of Milwaukee attended the bride as her maid of honor. Mrs. Carl Dietrich and Miss Roberta Kuenzli, both of Milwaukee, were the bridesmaids. All wore yellow nylon over net gowns designed with heirloom skirts, with baskets of yellow gladioli and yellow and gold daisies set off by white carnations.

Attending the groom were Lavern Gottschalk of Milwaukee, the best man, with Carl Dietrich of Milwaukee and Myron Schulz of Colby, groomsman. Dennis Kademan and Gerald Gottschalk ushered.

After the church ceremonies a reception was held in the Unity Memorial Hall with dinner being served in the church parlors. The wedding dance was also held in the hall.

The new matron is a graduate of the Colby High School and has been employed at Line Material of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The groom, also a graduate of Colby High School, is employed there by Druml Construction Company.

Milwaukee will be the home of the couple when they return from a wedding trip through northern Wisconsin and upper Michigan.
