Weis, Margaret Isabelle (Marriage - 11 Oct. 1961)

Rev. William R. Christian officiated at the marriage of Miss Margaret Isabelle Weis and Robert Harold Wiersig on Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 11, at 4 o’clock in the Zion Lutheran church at Colby, Wis. The young couple, who were married in the church decorated with white and yellow gladioli, are the daughter and son of Anton Weis of Spencer, Wisconsin, Route 1, and the late Mrs. Weis, and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Wiersig, of Colby, Route 2.

Mrs. Lawrence Priem presided at the organ with Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Schulz as soloist singing "O Perfect Love" and "The Lord’s Prayer."

A lace gown with train and a crown headpiece of iridescents holding her fingertip veil of silk illusion was chosen by Miss Weis for her wedding. It was fashioned with a scoop neckline set off with iridescent sequins, an empire waist, long fitted sleeves and lace medallion trim on the skirt. She carried a lavender orchid with stephanotis and ivy arranged around a prayer book.

Appearing in the wedding party as matron of honor and bridesmaid were Mrs. Arvin Dommer of Colby, Route 2, and Miss Patricia Wiersig, of Eau Claire. The fitted bodices of their gold satin street-length dresses were styled with scoop necklines and modified sleeves. The full skirts featured unpressed pleats with self bows trimming the sides and their halo veils were caught to matching Dior bows. The floral arrangements they carried were in cascade shape of gold and bronze chrysanthemums with matching colored streamers.

Penny Hanson of Hewitt and Kenneth Dommer of Colby were flower girl and ring bearer.

Dennis Kieser of Abbotsford was the groom’s best man with Herman Weis of Colby, now stationed with the Marines at Camp Pendleton, Calif., as groomsman. Ushers were Daniel Kuse, Edgar, and Darold Freemund, Milan.

Wedding day events consisted of a 4:30 o’clock wedding supper at the church dining hall, a reception at the home of the groom from 7:30 to 9 p.m. and a dance in the evening at the Sportsmen’s Park at Colby, Wis.

The bride attended the Spencer High School and has been employed in Marshfield. The groom attended the Colby High School, graduating in 1946, and is now a member of the National Guards and will be leaving with the 32nd Division to Ft. Lewis, Wash.

The newlyweds are now on a wedding trip through northern Wisconsin.
