Wehrman, Mr. and Mrs. William (Golden - 15 April 1971)

Mr. and Mrs. William Wehrman of Loyal observed their Golden wedding anniversary with relatives and friends in the Spencer Municipal Hall Saturday, April 17. Their children hosted the event.

Floral centerpieces in golden hues were a gift of the grandchildren. Their great-grandchildren gave them corsages of yellow roses. The children also presented their parents with a color TV.

Martha Lemke was born in the Town of Sherman, where she lived until her marriage on April 15, 1921, to William Wehrman of the Town of Warner. They lived near Spokeville for six years and then bought 120 acres in the Town of Beaver, where they farmed until 1958.

In addition to raising 11 children, they are raising two grandchildren, Janet and Leonard Wehrman, who are in senior and junior high school.

Mr. Wehrman keeps busy during the summer with a garden of both flowers and vegetables. She likes to knit, crochet and piece quilts.

Both are members of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Loyal. He is a member of the Loyal American Legion Post, 175, and she belongs to the auxiliary. He served in the 3rd division during World War I.

Their 11 children are: Donald Wehrman, Lemont, Ill.; Herbert Wehrman, Withee; Raymond Wehrman, Oshkosh; Mrs. Louie (Agnes) LaBarge, Arpin; Mrs. John (Elaine) Gabrovic, Conrath; Allen Wehrman, Loyal; Wilfred Wehrman, Loyal; Mrs. Gerald (Alice) Kobiske, Loyal; Dale Wehrman, Milwaukee; Victor Wehrman, McHenry, Ill.; and Harvey Wehrman, Lemont, Ill. There are 38 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Anna Zuege Habbegger and Oscar Wehrman, their attendants 50 years ago were present.

Their daughter, Elaine, became Mrs. John Gabrovic on their Silver anniversary.
