Kraus, Josephine (24 Nov. 1888 - 9 Dec. 1961)

Mrs. C. J. Kraus died at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, Saturday morning at 4:30 o’clock, at the age of 73 years, rheumaroid arthritis and complications being the cause of her death. The body is reposing at the Lulloff Funeral Home.

The Christian Mothers will say a rosary at the Lulloff Funeral Home Thursday evening at 8:00 o’clock and a general rosary will be said Friday evening at 8:30 o’clock. Funeral services will be held in St. Mary’s church Saturday morning at 10:30, Rev. John B. Pinion officiating, and burial will be made in the parish cemetery.

Josephine Frane was born on November 24, 1888, in the town of Spencer and lived in Colby since 1910. On September 3, 1912, she was married in Colby to C. J. Kraus who preceded her in death on August 13, 1959. She was a faithful member of St. Mary’s congregation and the Christian Mother’s Society.

Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Stanley (Catherine) Morales of Chicago, Ill., Mrs. Alois (Bernadette) Gabriel of Colby, Mrs. Douglas (Beatrice) Rifleman of Edgar and Mrs. Sal (Dorothy) Zavala of Riverside, Calif.; 18 grand children; one brother, Victor Frane of Wittenberg.

Besides her husband, one son, Hubert, preceded her in death.

Funeral services for Mrs. Josephine Kraus were held Saturday morning in St. Mary’s Catholic church, Rev. John B. Pinion officiating, and internment was made in the parish cemetery. Pall bearers were Howard, David, Glen, Charles, Eugene and Dennis Frane.

Out of town relatives here for the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Morales and family of Chicago, Ill., Mrs. Sal Zavala of Riverside, Calif., Mr. and Mrs. Victor Frane of Wittenberg, Mrs. Beatrice Rifleman of Edgar, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Frane and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Frane of Curtiss, Mrs. Florence Frane and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Frane, Mr. and Mrs. Clement Meck and Mr. and Mrs. Glen Frane of Abbotsford, Dr. and Mrs. Martin Jacobs and Dr. and Mrs. Gerald Beyerl of Marshfield, Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Frane of Owen, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Hildebrand and family of St. Paul, Minn., Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Frane of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Friends here for the services were from Edgar, Wausau, Abbotsford and Unity, Wis.
