Lott, Virgie #2 (23 JAN 1949)

Now on a two week honeymoon trip to Chicago are Mr. and Mrs. Robert Mattson who were united in marriage in a lovely church ceremony performed by the Rev. G. L. Borreson at the Curtiss Evangelical Lutheran Church, Curtiss, at two o’clock Saturday afternoon, Jan. 23, 1949.

The bride, Virgie Lott, is the daughter of Mrs. Milo Lott, Curtiss. For the occasion she chose a beautiful gown of white slipper satin, fashioned with a full skirt extending inot a long train. Lace and beads trimmed the bodice, and the sleeves were long with lace trim. Her fingertip veil was caught to a heart shaped bead tiara, and she carried a bouquet of calla lilies, red roses and pompons.

Miss Verla Lott was her twin sister’s maid of honor, in an aqua taffeta gown with matching mitts. Her headdress was of matching lace, with an ostrich plume of the same color.

The bridesmaids, Miss Betty Jean Kraut, Curtiss, in lime taffeta, and Miss Luella Benzka, Abbotsford, in fuchsia taffeta, were attired in identically styled gowns with matching mitts, and matching lace and ostrich plumed headdresses. All three attendants carried colonial bouquets of pink and white carnations and talisman roses.

The groom, the son of Wm. Matteson, Owen, was attended by Earl Johnson, Owen. Ushers were Victor Borgemoen, Curtiss, and Earl Schiszik, cousins of the bride. During the ceremony, Miss Harriet Marking, Owen, sang three selection and was accompanied at the organ by her sister, Bonnie.

Both of the young people are popular in this community. Both are graduates of the Owen High School with the class of 1948. Since last spring she was employed as a clerk in a Abbotsford business place, while Robert has been associated with his father in his business in Owen, and during the first semester attended the Eau Claire State Teachers College at Eau Claire.

Following the ceremony a reception and dinner was served to nearly 200 guests in the parish hall. That evening a wedding dance was given the newlyweds at Merry ‘Ol Gardens.

The couple will make their home in Owen as Robert will be employed by his father.

Among the guests that attended the wedding from away were: Mr. and Mrs. Walter Siegel, Mr. and Mrs. George Schick, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Richard Upjohn, Rib Lake, and Mr. and Mrs. Emil Havelin, Loyal.
