Blodgett, Ilene Mildred (Marriage - 14 June 1941)

Roses festooned to resemble a vine, bouquets of flowers brought by friends, made a beautiful floral setting in the candle lighted Curtiss Evangelical Lutheran church for the marriage of Miss Ilene Mildred Blodgett and William Maki, Saturday, June 14. The Rev. L. O. Anderson, of Evanston, Ill., read the service at eleven o’clock in the morning.

The bride, who is the daughter of Mrs. Laura Blodgett, was given in marriage by her cousin, Mr. Fred Miller of Menomonie. A gown of ivory satin with lace trim and lace inserts in the long train was chosen by the bride. White roses and sweet peas formed the crown for the finger tip veil and white roses and carnations made up the bridal bouquet.

Attending as maid of honor was Miss Edna Maki, sister of the groom, East Chicago, Ind. The two bridesmaids were the Misses Hazel Blodgett, sister of the bride, Kenilworth, Ill., and Audrey Finnestad, Evanston, Ill. The attendants wore frocks of silk net and lace in peach for the maid of honor with a shoulder corsage of roses and gladioli, and blue for the bridesmaids, who also carried bouquets of roses, carnations and honeysuckle.

The groom, who is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Nestor Maki, Owen, was attended by Curtiss Blodgett, Glencoe, Ill., Wayne Blodgett, Flemington, New Jersey, brothers of the bride and Robert Maki, Fort Lewis, Washington, brother of the groom.

Mrs. George Maki played the bridal marches and vocal selections were sung by the Marking sisters of Owen.

A luncheon and reception at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Nestor Maki was held in the afternoon. Streamers of peach and blue in the dining room and living room and the summer flowers were used in the home decorations. About 200 guests attended.

Mr. and Mrs. Maki are at home to their friends on the Maki farm at Owen, Rt. 2. Later a wedding trip into northern Wisconsin and Michigan is planned.

Among those from away who attended the wedding were Rev. L. O. Anderson, Miss Audrey Finnestad, Evanston, Ill.; Wayne Blodgett, Flemington, New Jersey; Mr. and Mrs. Curtiss Blodgett, Glencoe, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Miller, Menomonie; Miss Hazel Blodgett, Kenilworth, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Blodgett and family, Eau Claire; Mrs. Martin Anderson, daughter, Norlyn, Barron; Robert Maki, Fort Lewis, Wash.; and Mrs. Ed Maki, East Chicago, Ind.
