Klessig, Caroline #2 (17 JAN 1872 - 22 MAY 1949)

Mrs. Christ Klessig, 77, whose husband died last month, died at 6 a.m. Sunday on the home farm in the Town of Hoard, Curtiss (Clark Co., Wis.), where her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Hugo Kobs now reside. She had been in poor health for some time and suffered a stroke last Tuesday.

The body laid in state at the Griebenow Funeral Home (Owen, Wisconsin), Owen, until Tuesday afternoon when it was taken to her home. At noon Wednesday funeral services were conducted from the Curtiss Evangelical and Reformed Church by Rev. Franz H. Puhlmann, pastor. Interment was in Pine Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Klessig, the former Caroline Schleiman, was born in Germany, Jan. 17, 1872, and came to America when a young girl. She was married at Rantoul, Calumet Co., Nov. 3, 1891, to Christ Klessig, who died April 20 of this year. The Klessigs had moved to their present farm in 1902.

Surviving are three daughters and five sons, Mrs. Herman (Alma) Marquardt, Rothschild; Mrs. Hugo (Ella) Kobs, Curtiss; Mrs. Albert (Dorothy) Mandel, Colby; Albert and William Klessig, Curtiss; Helmuth Klessig, Louisburg, Tenn.; Raymond Klessig, Adak, Alaska; and Harold Klessig, Colby, Wis.

There are 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers for Mrs. Klessig, who was a member of the Ladies Aid Society of the Evangelical and Reformed Church, will be Kenneth and John Kobs, Norman Marquardt, Ely and Gerald Klessig, and Clarence Lemmer.
