Dunow, Marie (6 JAN 1885 - 23 JUL 1949)

A lingering illness of several years which recently was complicated by pneumonia proved fatal to Mrs. Marie Dunow, age 64 years, when she passed away at her farm home in the Town of Hoard (Clark Co., Wis.) on Saturday, July 23, 1949.

Funeral services were conducted Tuesday afternoon at 2 p.m. from St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Rev. M. C. Goetsch officiating. During the service Miss Sally Parker, Withee, accompanied by Mrs. Rowene Mahoney and Jack McCorrison sang, "Abide with Me" and "Now the Day is Over.

Pallbearers at the service were: Arthur Thieme, Vilas Luscher, William Stienke, Frank Lenser, and Hank and Otto Bublitz. Flower girls were: Geraldine Walkhama, Mrs. Franklin Peissig, Mrs. Arthur Thieme, LaVerne Thieme, Pearl Luscher, Mrs. Herbert Goessl and Marie Neuman.

Mrs. Marie Dunow, nee Marie Olson, was born on Jan. 6, 1885 at Oslo, Norway. She came to this county as a young lady of 22 years of age. Four years later, on June 28th, 1911, she was united in marriage to Gust Dunow in a ceremony performed at Curtiss.

A resident of this community for the past 38 years she had gained her self a reputation of being a fine sincere worker in any endeavor of her taking, as well as being one of the most highly respected residents of the community. Ill health of the past several years had limited her activities but she still realized a great deal of enjoyment with her family and friends.

Surviving her are her husband; three sons, Henry, Eldon and Dick; four daughters, Ida, Margaret, Hattie and Loretta; three brothers, Nels Olson, Martin Olson and Matt Olson, and a sister, Mrs. Mathilda (Olson) Williams.

Out of town persons attending the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Fred Kirschmann and family, St. Cloud, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Bangle and daughters, Shirley and Bonnie, Minneapolis, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Skoglund and family, Milwaukee; Miss Margaret Dunow, Milwaukee; Mrs. Mathilda Williams, Milwaukee; Nels Olson, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Chris Olson and Matt Olson, Minneapolis, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Adam Dunow and son Alfred, Stratford, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Dunow, Lake Geneva; Chas. Woempner and sons, Dorchester, Wis.
