Miss Marion Appleyard, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Appleyard, became the bride of Charles Swenson, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Swenson, at a candlelight ceremony performed at St. John’s Lutheran Church on Saturday, June 23, at 7 o’clock. Rev. Alfred Schewe performed the double ring ceremony before an altar decorated with baskets of flowers in colors corresponding with the bridesmaids’ dresses.

The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of white satin, fashioned with a net yoke trimmed in lace, a fitted bodice and a full skirt extending into a long train. Her finger tip veil was caught to an orange blossom tiara and she carried a fan shaped bridal bouquet of red roses and small white clustered flowers.

Her maid of honor, Jean Middleton, was gowned in a dress of orchid taffeta and Fern Naedler, as bridesmaid, wore a green taffeta gown. They were fashioned alike with net yokes, fitted bodices, and full skirts. They wore head dresses to match their gowns and carried bouquets of roses.

Calvin Swenson served as his brother’s best man, and Melvin Appleyard, a brother of the bride, acted as groomsman. They were attired in maroon jackets and grey trousers. Peggy Ann Imig, a cousin of the bride was flower girl. She was dressed in yellow organdy and carried a bouquet of yellow and white daisies.

Following the wedding a reception for 150 guests was held at the home of the bride’s parents. The home was decorated with pink, green and white streamers. The wedding cake was decorated in colors matching the dresses, also.

The young couple will be at home in their apartment on Oak Street following their honeymoon in southern Wisconsin and Illinois.
