Brooks, Norma June (Marriage - 7 July 1951)

The Methodist Church at Neillsville was the setting Saturday, July 7, 1951, for the wedding of Miss Norma June Brooks and Donald George Asplin. The two o’clock double ring ceremony was performed by the Rev. Virgil Nulton. Vows were repeated before an altar banked with baskets of gladioli, roses and fern.

The bride, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Fred Brooks, was attired in a ballerina length gown of white Chantilly flowered lace over satin. Her finger tip veil fell from a tiara of lace and seed pearls. She carried a bridal bouquet of orchids surrounded with white swansonia. The bride was given in marriage by her father.

Marquisette ballerina gowns were worn by her attendants, Patricia Button and Lois Larsen. Miss Button, a niece of the bride from Morris, Ill., was maid to honor. She was dressed in a Nile green marquisette gown over satin, and Miss Larsen, a friend of the bride, wore a yellow marquisette gown over satin. They carried bouquets with a rose center surrounded by gardenias and sweet peas.

The groom, son of Mrs. Florence Asplin of Neillsville, was attended by Robert John Brooks as best man and Donald Marg as groomsman.

Richard Brooks, a brother of the bride, and Eugene Sterritt of Morris, Ill., ushered. Following the wedding a reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents for 75 gusts. The home was decorated with baskets of gladioli and delphinium.

The bride was graduated from the local high school and is employed in the telephone office. The groom is also a graduate of Neillsville High School and is employed in farming. The young couple will live at 5th and Oak Streets.

Guests were present for the wedding from Morris, Ottawa and Joliet, Illinois.
