Chili (20 May 1971)

Charles Stringer, who was a surgical patient at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield, returned home Tuesday; his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Barton Stringer of Milwaukee, and daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Ott, also of Milwaukee, visited Mrs. Stringer while he was hospitalized.

Weekend guests at the Emil Ziegler home were their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Verland Schofield and son, David, of Milwaukee. Saturday evening visitors at the Ziegler home were their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Ziegler, and two daughters of Wisconsin Rapids. Mrs. George Kippenhan and son, Roger, of Greenwood were Sunday afternoon and supper guests at the Ziegler’s.

Mrs. Dorothy Haslow is a patient in St. Joseph’s Hospital at Marshfield.

The Chili Community Club met last Thursday, afternoon at the home of Mrs. Phelps Spry. Members decided to have a club picnic June 17 at the Chili Park. There will be no meetings during the months of July and August.

Mr. and Mrs. Ezra Schilling visited their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Zakrzewski, in Stevens Point on Sunday.

Mr. and Mrs. Werner Doehr visited her brother and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Archie Bequette, At Fairchild last Thursday.

Chili Cub Scout Pack 210 sponsored a bake sale last Saturday at Haslow’s Hardware Store. Funds realized through the sale are use to support the local club program.

Pvt. Vern Mortvedt, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Vern Mortvedt, Sr., is presently home on leave from the Army. He has completed his basic training at Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo., and is to report June 4 at Ft. Dix, New Jersey, from where he expects to be sent overseas.
