Shoemaker, Mariah Ann (12 September 1997 - 21 October 2013)

Mariah Ann Shoemaker, 16, of Black River Falls died Oct. 21, 2013, in Gillette Children’s Hospital in St. Paul, MN, from injuries she sustained in a motor vehicle accident in St. Croix County that also took the life of her father, Scott W. Shoemaker, Oct. 19, 2013.

Mariah was born in Black River Falls Sept. 12, 1997, to Scott W. and Peggy (Gaede) Shoemaker. She attended school in Alma Center, Black River Falls and River Falls. She enjoyed running, Justin Bieber music and outdoor activities. Mariah was a very responsible young lady with a positive attitude. She loved life and people. She always had a smile on her face. She loved to bake, ride horse and spend time with friends.

Surviving are her mother, Peggy Gaede, Beaver Dam; one brother, Brock; one sister, Nicole; one half-brother, Xander Gaede; one half-sister, Tana Gaede; her paternal grandparents, Ronald and Mary Jean Shoemaker, Black River Falls; her maternal grandfather, Paul Gaede, Neillsville; her maternal grandmother, Ella Harris, Bruce; her paternal great-grandmother, Evelyn M. Lambert, Black River Falls; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father, Scott; her paternal great-grandfather, Merlin Lambert; and paternal great-grandparents, Archie and Buela Shoemaker.

Joint funeral services for Mariah A. Shoemaker and Scott W. Shoemaker, her father, were held at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28, 2013, from the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, CTH F, Black River Falls. Services were conducted by Jerry Schumacher and burial was in Brookside Cemetery in Millston. Relatives and friends called at Torgerson’s Funeral Home (715-284-4321) 408 N. Water St. Black River Falls, Sunday from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. and Monday from noon until the time of services at Kingdom Hall.
