Denny, Melissa (29 Mar. 1864 - 17 Feb. 1945)

Mrs. Melissa Denny, age 80, a former Abbotsford resident, died at St. Michael’s hospital, in Stevens Point, Saturday evening, after a short illness. Burial will be made in the spring in the Abbotsford cemetery, beside her husband and daughter.

Mrs. Denny was born, Melissa Meeks, March 29, 1864, in Black River Falls, and two years later moved with her parents to Meek’s settlement now known as South Alma. In 1897 she married Joseph Denny and they lived in Butternut and Abbotsford where Mr. Denny died.

Mrs. Denny and their daughter, Irene, who later became Mrs. William Rogers, moved to Stevens Point where Mrs. Rogers died in 1931, leaving three daughters. Mrs. Denny cared for these three grand daughters, who survive her. Shirley and Marjorie are at Stevens Point and Mildred is in Chicago. A stepson, Ben Denny, of Keewatin, Minn., and a brother, Earl Meeks of Ontonagon, Mich. also survive.

Mrs. Denny was a visitor in Abbotsford last fall when she spent some time with Mrs. Louis Mauritz. During their residence here the Denny family lived in the house now owned by I. C. Heggesta.
