Martin, Margaret (29 December 1894 - 6 June 1971)

Mrs. Margaret Martin, 76, died June 6 at the Neillsville Memorial Hospital. She had been ill for some time and had visited her doctor and suffered a stroke.

Mrs. Martin was born in Idaho, December 29, 1894, and had spent most of her life in the Humbird area where she and her late husband, Charles, farmed and later with her sons had operated a farm.

She is survived by five sons, Lyle and Raymond of Humbird, Wallace of Tohatchi, N. M., James of Beloit and David of San Angelo, Tex.; three daughters, Mrs. Roy Anderson, Oregon, Mrs. Eugene Allen, Sante Fe, N. M., and Mrs. Lyle Williams, Alexandria, Minn.; three brothers, Howard and John Stuve of Owen, and Raymond of Humbird; two sisters, Mrs. Almira Helwig, Danbury, and Mrs. Helen Short of Wessington Springs, S. D., and 21 grandchildren.

She was a member of the Methodist Church, the American Legion Auxiliary and Woman’s Society of Christian Service. Services were held June 10 from the Methodist Church, the Rev. Ralph Short of Wessington Springs, S. D., and the Rev. Harold Kirkpatrick officiating.

Her granddaughters, Mrs. Margaret Green of Merrillan and Mrs. Marie Ruda of Alma Center gave the song service. The burial was made in the family lot in the Mentor Cemetery.

Among those from out of town, besides her immediate family, who came were Mr. and Mrs. H. Stuve and daughters, Dorothy and Phyllis and their husband; Dwight Stuve, Owen; Mrs. Iva Rezin, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Plowman and two sons, Wisconsin Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Short and daughter, South Dakota; Mr. and Mrs. Karl Helwig, Danbury.
