Vernam, Dallas #2 (4 AUG 1864 - 12 JAN 1908)

Dallas Vernam passed away at his home in this city (Neillsville, Clark Co., Wis.) on Jan. 12, 1908, at the age of 63 years. He was born in Bolton, N.Y., Aug. 4th, 1864. He had been a great sufferer for some time, the cause of death, a complication of diseases.

He enlisted in Co. H., 93rd Reg. N.Y. Vol., enrolled Nov. 10, 1861, and enlisted for three years. He was discharged Dec. 12, 1862, at Philadelphia by reason of a surgeon’s certificate of disability. He re-enlisted in Co. E, 142nd Reg. N.Y. Vol., on Sept. 1, 1864, for a period of one year, was discharged at Raleigh, N.C., June 14, 1865.

Mr. Vernam was married to Miss Mary Roberts July 3, 1866 at Warrensleigh, N.Y. He resided in Bolten for six years, and in 1872 came to Clark county and been a resident of Neillsville for 25 years. He is survived by a wife and one daughter, Mrs. W. L. Newell of this city, and six grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. T. Chadwick of Christie and one half sister, Mrs. H. Jebo of Trippers Lake, N.Y.

The funeral occurred Tuesday, Rev. Burrows officiating.
