Nowobielski, Joseph Sr. (15 DEC 1871 - 16 MAY 1952)

Funeral services were conducted at 9:00 a.m. May 19th at St. Hedwig’s Chapel here by Father Hebert Zorowski, for Joseph Nowobielski, 81, who passed away of old age on Friday, May 16th at Greenwood (Clark Co.), Wis., where he had made his home for the past four years.

The deceased was born in Poland on Dec. 15, 1871. He came to America in 1893 and located in Chicago, where he was united in marriage to Helen Benia on April 5, 1894. He came to Thorp in 1927 and for many years served as organist at St. Hedwig’s Church, and also worked at his trade of tailor while a resident of the village, until old age prevented.

His is survived by one brother, Andrew, of the city of Thorp. His wife, two brothers and three sisters, preceded him in death.

He was laid to rest in St. Hedwig’s Cemetery. Members of the Polish National Alliance, to which he belonged, served as pallbearers.

Those from out of the city who were here to attend the funeral were: Joseph Jadrnak and Miss Mary Jadrnak of Gary, Ind., and Mrs. Anna Pateral of Chicago.
