Valk, Carol (26 AUG 1952)

Carol Valk, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Francis A. Valk, Stanley, and John F. Sopiarz, son of Mr. and Joseph Sopiarz, Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) were married by the Rev. Edmund Cramer at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Stanley at 9 a.m. Aug. 26th, 1952 in a double ring ceremony.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of satin and Chantilly lace with bateau shaped neckline filled with nylon tulle and framed with a row of appliqué rosettes. From the pointed waistline it fell in a bouffant skirt. Wide lace panel inserts extended into a circular cut train. Her fingertip veil was held by a lace and satin Juliet cap trimmed with seed pearls. Her bouquet was of red roses and white stephanotis.

Lavonne Valk was her sister’s maid of honor in a blue satin strapless gown trimmed with pleated net inserts and a bolero jacket. She carried a colonial bouquet of gladioli and chrysanthemums.

Leonard Haas, Thorp, was best man, and Don Jensen, Boyd, was groomsman. Frank Sopiarz, Milwaukee, and Alvin Valk, West Allis, ushered.

A dinner was held at St. Hedwig’s and a reception took place in the parish hall at 5 p.m.

The bride’s mother wore a black crepe dress with beige accessories and a corsage of red roses and white carnations.

Following the wedding trip to Niagara Falls they will reside in Thorp. For her wedding trip the bride chose a gray sharkskin suit and corsage of red roses.
