Rubisch, Don (1934? - 15 NOV 1952)
The community was shocked to hear of the death of Don Rubisch, 18, who was killed in an auto accident Saturday night near Flint, Mich., on his way home from Detroit after the Michigan State - Notre Dame game at Lansing. He lived at Vassar, Mich.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday and members of last year’s Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.) basketball team acted as pallbearers.
It is reported Rubisch had joined the U.S. Navy and was to report for training early this month.
Rubisch, who graduated from Thorp High last June, broke numerous conference and school basketball scoring records last year. He led the Thorp team to a Cloverbelt championship and to the sectional finals at Spooner last year, and was rated as one of the best cage stars in Thorp history.
