Waltemate, Earl H. (9 July 1933 - 12 May 2009)

 

Earl H. Waltemate, 75, of Neillsville died Tuesday, May 12, 2009, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.

 

Earl H. Waltemate was born July 9, 1933, the son of Louis and Edith (Koonz) Waltemate.

 

Earl worked on the Mississippi on a riverboat as a young man. He spent eight years working for American Motors in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Earl then spent 10 years working at Belgium Elevator in Belgium, WI, before working for Nelson Industries (Cummins), where he retired. After retirement, Earl worked part-time for Abby Vans making sure people would get to their appointments.

 

Earl was a hard-working, loving husband and father that will truly be missed, except for the fish, which he loved to try to catch.

 

Earl is survived by his wife, Joan (Durham); children: Rosanne (David) Taylor of Plymouth, Ronald (Kari) Waltemate of Green Bay, Roger (Renee) Waltemate of Neillsville, Robyn Rollins of Sheboygan and Roberta Doescher of Neillsville. Earl is also survived by a brother, Larry (Joann) Waltemate of DuQuion, IL; two sisters, Norma Donovan of St. Genevieve, MO, and Mary Alice Carter of Elkville, IL; 20 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

 

Earl was preceded in death by a daughter, Rochelle Seliskar; his parents; three brothers, Robert, Herbert and Willard; and two sisters, Gladys and Opel from southern Illinois.

 

A Memorial Service was held for Earl at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 16, 2009, at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville, with visitation from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. prior to the service. Pastor James Gordon officiated. Inurnment was in the Town of Grant Cemetery.

 

The Gesche Funeral Home of Neillsville assisted Earl’s family with arrangements.
