Meyer, Leo M. (1896? - 27 FEB 1953)

Funeral services were held at St. Anthony’s Church at Loyal (Clark Co., Wis.) on Monday morning for Leo M. Meyer, 56, Loyal, postmaster for 28 years, who passed away Friday after an illness of several months.

Mr. Meyer was state secretary of the National Leagues of District Postmasters and Vice-President of the National organization. He was a charter member of the Rotary Club, the Knights of Columbus and president of Loyal Industries, Inc., an organization to encourage new industries to locate there, the American Legion and 40 et 8, in which he had been a very active member.

Military honors were conferred at the grave with the salute by the firing squad of Loyal American Legion Post and the sounding of taps. Legionnaires from Thorp and county posts attended the services. Acting as pallbearers were Thos. Polnaszek, N. E. Qualle, W. Vanderhyden, Wm. S. Wagner and Robert Elkins of Thorp American Legion Post and C. Podobnik of Greenwood, all members of 40 et 8.
