NEILLSVILLE -- Tony Kernz, 85, of Neillsville died Friday, May 22, 2009, at the Palliative Care Unit of Saint Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield.

Buchanan Funeral Home of Neillsville is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Tony W. Kernz, 85, of Neillsville died Friday, May 22, 2009, in palliative care at Saint Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 27, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Neillsville.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, at Buchanan Funeral Home, Neillsville, and from 10:30 a.m. to the time of service Wednesday at the church.

Tony W. Kernz, 85, of Neillsville died Friday, May 22, 2009, in palliative care at Saint Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.

Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, at Buchanan Funeral Home, Neillsville, and from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

He was born March 3, 1924, Rauch, Minn., to Joseph and Mary (Kovach) Kernz. He married Deloris Holub in 1948 before divorcing. He married Arlene Wedekind on Nov. 3, 1979, in Neillsville. He worked for GreenThumb and Weatherization programs of Clark County and the City of Neillsville.

He is survived by his wife, Arlene Wedekind of Neillsville; son Lawrence Kernz of St. Louis, Mo.; daughter Debra (Tom) Jeffrey of Paradise Valley, Ariz.; six grandchildren; brother Rudy (Edith) Kernz of Lecanot, Fla.; and sister-in-law Rica Kernz of Marshfield.
