Smasal, Killian & Barbara (60th - 5 APR 1953)

(Chippewa News Herald)

Sixty years of married life were observed by Mr. and Mrs. Killian Smasal, 83 and 77 years of age respectively, of Stanley on Easter Sunday. Their special day began with a high mass in their honor at ten o’clock, celebrated at St. Anne’s Church by the Rev. Edmond Cramer. A dinner at noon was served in the parlors of the church for the immediate family with covers laid for several guests. The color scheme for Easter, lavender and yellow, was carried out in the table decorations, lighted tapers, and in the beautifully decorated cake by Mrs. Laura Solie which centered the table.

In the afternoon from two until five, open house was held in the church parlors. Approximately one hundred and fifty friends, neighbor and relatives called to congratulate the guests of honor. Mrs. Smasal greeted their guests wearing a light blue suit dress with navy accessories and an orchid corsage. They were presented with a purse of money.
