GRANTON -- Martin Hillert, 84, of Granton died May 28, 2009, at Memorial Medical Center, Neillsville.

Arrangements are pending at Buchanan Funeral Home.

GRANTON -- Martin A. Hillert Sr., 90, of Granton died May 28, 2009, at Neillsville Memorial Home.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Zion American Lutheran Church, Granton. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday at the church from 10 a.m. until time of services.

Martin was born Nov. 21, 1918, in rural Granton to August and Eugenia (Mueller) Hillert. He was united in marriage May 30, 1942, to Marie Hales. She died in March of 1970. Martin was married to Dora Arndt on June 5, 1971. She died Oct. 16, 2007.

He was a lifelong resident of the town of Grant, where he owned and operated a dairy farm and made maple syrup.

Martin is survived by four sons, David (Carol) Hillert of Granton, Donald (Judy) Hillert of Mondovi, John (Gayle) Hillert of Clifton Forge, Va., and Martin Jr. (June) Hillert of Friendship; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Lydia Hemersbach of Granton and Ida Hinkelmann of Byron, Ill.
