Geary, Betty Jean (Marriage - 12 June 1948)

In a candle light service at Evangelical Lutheran Church, Curtiss, on Saturday, June 12, Miss Betty Jean Geary and Clifford O. Nenzel pledged their nuptial vows before the Rev. G. E. Borreson.

Miss Vangel Bobbe, Abbotsford, was maid of honor and the bridegroom’s brother, Orville Nenzel, Norwalk, was best man. Two cousins of the bride, John Erickson, Brookings, S.D., and LeRoy Vegeahn, Wisconsin Rapids, ushered.

The bridal gown was fashioned with a lace bodice sweetheart neckline, and long sleeves coming to points at the wrist. The marquisette skirt with a bustle effect in back, extended into a long train. Her finger tip veil was bordered in lace. She carried a bouquet of white gladioli and white roses.

The maid of honor wore an orchid marquisette gown with matching head dress and mitts. She carried a bouquet of peach gladioli and orchid sweet peas.

Before the ceremony a supper was served to about 50 guests at the home of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence W. Geary, Curtiss. About 100 guests attended a reception in the parish hall after the service.

Mr. and Mrs. Nenzel are spending a week in northern Wisconsin and Canada. After July 1 they will be at home to friends in Bloomer.

The bride, a graduate of the Abbotsford high school, was employed by the Curtiss State Bank. Mr. Nenzel, Norwalk, was graduated from Platteville State Teachers’ College and is now teaching agriculture at the Bloomer High School.
