Abbitt, Myra Jane (28 March 1870 - 15 February 1952)

Mrs. Myra Jane Abbitt, age 81, died at the home of her granddaughter, Mrs. Chester Turville, in the Town of Weston on Friday at ten p.m.

Funeral services were conducted on Sunday at 2:30 p.m. from the Georgas Funeral Home with the Rev. Virgil Nulton officiating. The body was taken to Lenox, Ia., where serviced were conducted on Tuesday and interment was made in the Lenox Cemetery.

Mrs. Abbitt was born to Sam and Mary Doughtery in Page County, Iowa, on March 28, 1870. She received her education in Iowa. On June 7, 1892 she was married to John Abbitt at Bedford, Ia. She was employed in their printing shop both before and after her marriage. Following her husband’s death in 1921, she made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Lloyd Smith, and for the past three years she lived with her granddaughter, Mrs. Chester Turville. She was a member of the Church of Christ, of Lenox, Ia.

She is survived by her daughter, Mrs. Lloyd Smith of Granton, two granddaughters, Mrs. Chester (Helena) Turville, Neillsville and Mrs. Arthur (Eunice) Anderson of Marshfield, and Thelma, Mrs. Ralph Sutton, who made her home with the Abbitts since a young child; also four great-grandchildren.

Two brothers and three sisters preceded her in death.

Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Smith, Mr. and Mrs. William Ebergen, Mr. and Mrs. George Hales, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Hetzel and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Frischman of Granton, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Anderson, Ben Dahnert of Marshfield, Mrs. Paul Stumke of Loyal, Iva Hindal of Greenwood and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Sutton and Merrill of Eau Claire.
