Howard, Ida (23 AUG 1872 - 13 DEC 1953)

Mrs. Ida Howard, aged 81 years, 3 months and 13 days, passed away Sunday afternoon, Dec. 13, 1953 at the Victory Memorial Hospital at Stanley where she had been a patient for several weeks.

Ida Mae Oliver was born at Merrillan, Wis., Aug. 23, 1872.

In 1891 she was married to Charles W. Christian and moved to Reseburg (Clark Co., Wis.) where they lived on a farm until they moved to Thorp in 1903, where she since resided.

Mr. Christian died in 1907.

In 1916 she was married to Harvey E. Howard who preceded her in death seventeen years ago.

Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Frank Wilson of Redmond, Washington and Mrs. James Shaw of Stryker, Mont.; sixteen grandchildren and thirty-one great-grandchildren; five children; Mrs. Dan Vander Linden of Gilman, Mrs. Lulu Patchak of Sheboygan, Mrs. Harold Shock of Stanley, Mrs. Grace Boardman and Jay Christian of Thorp. One son Howard died in infancy.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at the Thorp funeral Parlor with Rev. Warner officiating. Interment was in the Thorp Cemetery.

Those from out of town attending the funeral were Mrs. Walter Larson and Mrs. Mabel Babbit of Bloomer, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Tobola and family of Cadott, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Shock and Mrs. Leon Salander of Stanley, Mrs. Dan Vander Linden of Gilman. Mr. and Mrs. r. Shock of Stanley, and Mrs. Edward Mayer of West Allis.

Mrs. Ida Christenson of Thorp was called home this week by serious illness of her mother, Mrs. Oliver, who is failing fast.
 

Transcribers Note: Frances Almira Benson (Sept 1850 in Iowa, WI - 6 Jan 1902, Merrillan, WI) died five days later.  She was the wife of William Oliver (2 October 1840 in Lewis, NY--29 Jun 1929 in Merrillan, WI)
