White, Marie (5 December 1887 - 2 April 1952)

Mrs. William White of 401 East Fifth Street died at eight o'clock Wednesday morning at the Neillsville Hospital after an illness of several years. She had been hospitalized since February 13.

The body lay in state at the Georgas Funeral Home until one o'clock Saturday when it was taken to the Methodist Church where services were conducted at two o'clock, with the Rev. Virgil Nulton officiating. Interment was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Mrs. White, nee Marie Luchterhand, was born in Germany on December 5, 1887, to Carl and Hanna (Hoeftman) Luchterhand. She came to this country at the age of four. They located on a farm in the Town of Weston, where she received her elementary education. Mrs.White was very adept at planning dinners for various organizations and was very active in lodge and church work.

She was a member of the Methodist church, Study club of the Women's Society of Christian Service, Women's Auxiliary to the Gran Army of the Republic, Royal Neighbors of America and the Rebekah Lodge No. 64.

She was married to William White on July 18, 1908, at Neillsville. She is survived by her husband and three sons, Glen White at home, Francis White of West Allis, and Clarence White of Ashland, N. H.; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild; one brother, Ben Luchterhand of Neillsville; and the following sisters, Mrs. John (Minnie) Miller of Chassell, Mich., Mrs. Phil (Anna) Lange of Hancock, Mich., and Mrs. Leslie (Margaret) Milton of
Neillsville. Two sisters, Mrs. Charles (Elsie) Halblieb and Mrs. Julian (Helen) Blomly of Chippewa Falls and one infant son preceded her in death.

Pallbearers were: William Campman, Herbert Smith, William Whaley, Ed Stelloh, Charles Barr and Charles Poole.

Mrs. Virgil Nulton and Mrs. Helen C. Smith sang two selections accompanied by Mrs. Iris Randall.

Members of the Women's Society of Christian Service, Rebekah Lodge, Women's Auxiliary to the Grand Army of the Republic and the Royal Neighbors attended the funeral.

Persons from out of town attending the services included Mrs. John Miller of Chassell, Mich., Mrs. Phil Lange, Hancock, Mich., Mr. and Mrs. Clarence White, Ashland, N. H., Mr. and Mrs. Francis White of Milwaukee, Charles and James Halblieb of Eau Claire, Mrs.Susie Solie and Mrs. Ruth Lefstead of Eau Claire, Mr. and Mrs. Charles White of Jefferson, Mr. and Mrs. Sheridan Bracken of Marshfield, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Jackson of Greenwood.
