Shortly after coming to Neillsville he settled on a farm in Pine Valley, where he cleared up and developed a very good dairy farm. About six years ago he rented his farm and removed to this city, where he has since resided.
For many eyars after coming to Clark County, eh was active in the stave and logging business, but in later years devoted himself to his farm.
Mr. Jacques had a hopeful, friendly disposition, and was a great favorite among the children of his acquaintance. He was a man of very strong political conviction, and took great pleasure in the discussion of public affairs. He was a great reader and deep thinker, and withal a splendid character, and his death is sincerely regretted by his many friends.
