Steager, Jacob (3 OCT 1873 - 19 JAN 1952)

 

Final rites were conducted at two o’clock Tuesday afternoon for Jacob Steager, 79, who passed away at St. Joseph’s Hospital on Jan. 19th, 1952.  Rev. W. Clayton Nielsen, pastor of the Nazareth Lutheran Church, Withee, officiated and burial was made in Riverside Cemetery.

 

Serving as pallbearers were Otto Neimag, Harold and Walter Heideman, Hans Hansen, Ed Bruckschlager, and Leon Bruchert.  Those in charge of the floral offerings were Mrs. E. C. Olds, Mrs. Vic Nielsen, Mrs. Erling Jensen and Mrs. Walter Heideman.

 

A week previous to his death Mr. Steager fell, fracturing his hip, being taken to the hospital for treatment, where he passed away.  He was born on Oct. 3, 1873, in Germany, coming to this country as a young man of 16 years.  He lived at Glenwood City for 23 years, then came to this community (Owen, Clark Co., Wis.), settling on a farm in 1912.  In 1899 while still living at Glenwood City, he was united in marriage to Ann Bruchert.

 

Surviving him are his wife, on son, Peter, three grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
