Weetz, Florence Marie (6 May 1912 - 23 June 1951)

 

Funeral services for Mrs. Clarence J. Weetz, 39, who died at her home Saturday at 9:35 p.m. were held on Wednesday morning at 9:30 at St. Bernard’s Catholic church, with the Rev. Raymond Schultz offering the requiem High Mass. A large number of friends paid tribute to Mrs. Weetz by attending the services as well as the rosary service held at the Zink Funeral home, Tuesday evening. Internment was made in the Colby (Colby, Clark Co. Wis.) Cemetery.

 

Pallbearers were Leon Apfelbeck, Joseph Apfelbeck, William, Arvin, James and Clement Apfelbeck, all cousins of the deceased.

 

Flower girls were the Misses Lucille, Patricia, Agnes, Monica, Theresa, and Genevieve Apfelbeck, also cousins of the Mrs. Weetz.

 

Among the relatives from away who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Francis Stigler, Oconomowoc, Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Olstinski and son, Marshfield; Mrs. Francis Pevan, Chippewa Falls; Leon Apfelbeck, Chicago, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Gust Steinke and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Galley and daughter, of Joliet, Ill.

 

Mrs. Weetz, the former Florence Marie Thorn, was born in the town of Mayville, Clark county, May 6, 1912. She received her education at St. Mary’s Catholic school at Colby, Colby high school, and was graduated from the Marathon County Normal School.

 

Prior to her marriage to Clarence J. Weetz at Colby Jan. 31, 1941, she taught for seven years in Marathon county rural schools. Following their marriage, the couple resided in Milwaukee for five years, returning to Abbotsford about four and one-half years ago.

 

Mrs. Weetz, who was never in good health, was active in community affairs. She was a member of St. Bernard’s church choir and St. Bernard’s Altar Society, of which organization she served as treasurer, and she was a member of the Women’s Catholic Order of Foresters. She was a former president of the Parent-Teachers Association and was serving as vice president at that association and was vice-president at the time of her death. She was also a member of the Abbotsford Music Study and Choral Club.

 

Mrs. Weetz is survived by her husband and son, David, her mother, Mrs. Rose Thorn, Colby; and two sisters, Mrs. Kenneth (Elsie) Olstinski, Marshfield, and Mrs. Francis (Clara) Stigler, Oconomowoc.
