Kaczor, William Louis (21 July 1923 - 11 June 2009) With Flag

 

William L. Kaczor, age 85, of Thorp passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2009, at his home.

 

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, June 16, 2009, at Thorp United Methodist Church with pastor George Olinske officiating.  Burial followed at Riverside Cemetery in Withee with members of Thorp American Legion Post 118 serving as pallbearers.  Visitation was held on Monday, June 15, 2009, at the Thorp Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.  Visitation was also held on Tuesday, June 16, 2009, one hour prior to services at the church.

 

William Louis Kaczor was born on July 21, 1923, in Thorp, WI to Louis and Irene (Dudansky) Kaczor.  He received his education at area schools and graduated from Thorp High School in 1942.  On January 25, 1943, William enlisted in the United States Army and participated in the European Theater during World War II until his discharge on October 18, 1945.  Shortly after his discharge, William was diagnosed with tuberculosis and was hospitalized for the next three years.  After recovering, William attended business school in Milwaukee for two years before returning to Thorp to help his mother take care of his dad, who was ill.  While in Thorp, Bill worked for Frank Lesniewski, installing tile, carpet and linoleum.  He later retired when his mother became ill.  Bill also served as the sexton for the East Thorp Cemetery Association for many years until his death.

 

William is survived by his two sisters: Ruth Kaczor of Madison, WI, and Betty (Walter) Bohn of Bartlesville, OK; one niece, Sandra (Phillip) Van De Verg of Bartlesville, OK; one grand-nephew, Greg Van De Verg of Norman, OK; and many friends.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Leroy James Kaczor.
