Krause, Elaine R. (18 January 1931 - 15 June 2009)

Elaine R. Krause, 78, passed away Monday, June 15, 2009, at Memorial Health and Rehabilitation Center in Neillsville.

Elaine was born Jan. 18, 1931, to George and Rocelia (Gerber) Krause.  She attended the rural Happy Hollow School and then graduated in 1948 from Neillsville High School.

After graduation Elaine worked for the Clark County Social Services office for a number of years prior to accepting a job as the Deputy Clark County Clerk.  She served in that position until being elected to Clark County Clerk, where she served three terms of office.

Elaine then moved to Wausau, where she worked for the Employers Insurance of Wausau for the next 12 years.  Elaine decided to retire and return to Neillsville so she could care for her aging parents.  During this time she helped on the family dairy farm and also worked part time at Figi’s in Neillsville.

Elaine enjoyed cooking and baking, watching sports, especially football and basketball, and spending time with her family, especially her great nephews and niece.  She was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Neillsville.

Elaine leaves behind her brother, Clarence Krause of Neillsville; two sisters, Virginia McIntyre of Rockford, IL, and Shirley (Arlo) Smith of Calahan, CO; two nephews, three nieces, three great-nephews and one great-niece.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Rocelia Krause; a sister-in-law, Linda Krause; and a brother-in-law, Patrick McIntyre.

Elaine will be long remembered by her family and friends for her loving nature and her generosity throughout life and upon passing.  Her gift of tissue donation is given so others in need can be helped.

Gesche Funeral Home is assisting the family with donation and cremation arrangements.
