Dale E. Schultz, 61, of Loyal, formerly of Granton, died peacefully Monday, July 13, 2009, at home surrounded by his family after a long battle with COPD.

Dale Edward Schultz was born July 29, 1947, in Neillsville, the son of Elmer and Grace (Christensen) Schultz.  He was raised on the family farm in Granton and received his education in the Granton area, graduating from Granton High School in 1965.

After completing high school, Dale drove semi-truck and hauled for many employers in Wisconsin.  He bought the family farm in 1994, and after retiring from driving semi-truck in 1995, he raised beef cattle on the home farm.  He also owned and operated Custom Products, where he built green chop cattle feeders, hayracks and did a lot of custom welding for the Amish.  Dale sold the farm in 2003 and moved to a home east of Loyal, where he has resided until his death.

He was a lifelong member of Zion American Lutheran Church in Granton and had many interests, but especially loved spending time with and picking on his grandkids, hunting, fishing, bowling and playing cards.

Dale will be dearly missed by his wife, Janette of Loyal; five children, Brenda Short (Jesse Schneider) of Pittsville, Lori Hainz (Richard Mayer) of Marshfield, Dawn (Terry) Foss of Granton, SSgt. Scott (Shelly) Schultz of Fort Carson, CO, and James (Pam) Schultz of Spencer; 10 grandchildren, Michael Short, Brooke and Alex Hainz, Courtney Foss, Whitney, Dominic and Makenzie Schultz and Desiree, Breuna and Lily Schultz; one brother, Eugene Schultz of Chippewa Falls; one niece, Theresa (Lester Jr.) Kuehn of Granton; and one great-grand-niece, Kyia Hernandez.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Larry.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 16, 2009, at Missionary Baptist Church in Greenwood with visitation at Cuddie Funeral Home in Loyal Wednesday, July 15 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and at the church Thursday from 10 a.m. until time of service.  Reverend Rob Love officiated. Burial followed in the Greenwood City Cemetery.  Pallbearers were Dick Fenske, Dennis Kuehn, Troy Kuehn, Andy Turczyn, Richard Mayer and Terry Foss.

The Cuddie Funeral Home of Loyal assisted the family with the arrangements.
