Keskimaki, Hanna #2 (25 MAY 1881 - 27 FEB 1952)

 

Funeral services were held on Sunday afternoon at two o’clock for Mrs. Hanna Keskimaki who passed away at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Emil Hansen, Withee.  Death came to her quietly Wednesday, Feb. 27th, 1952, being relieved from her suffering caused by a long lingering illness.  She was 70 years, 9 months and 2 days of age at the time of her calling.

 

The Rev. Clayton Nielsen and Henry Aukee officiated at the final rites, conducted from Griebenow’s Funeral Parlors.  Burial was made at Riverside Cemetery.  Serving as pallbearers were two sons, Martin and Eugene and four sons-in-law, Frank Smith, Gordon Hamrick, Wm. Smith and Harold Williams.  In charge of the many lovely floral offerings were five granddaughters, Joyce Karaba, Jean and Virginia Smith, Patsy Hamrick and Carol Keskimaki.  Also Dorothy Neibacher, Josephine Nowak, Inez Blume, Bernadine Williams, Mrs. Ignatz Nowak and Sylvia Nowak.

 

During the service members of the Nazareth Lutheran Church sang "Sweet of Prayer" and  "Our Father Ha A Light in His Window", being accompanied by Miss Louise Hansen, Mrs. John Lehtonen and Mrs. Kauno Niemi sang a vocal duet, "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere," being accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Henry Aukee.

 

The deceased was born on May 25, 1881 in Finland.  As a young lady she accompanied her parents to America and on July 4, 1903 was united in marriage to Isaac Keskimaki at Ishpeming, Mich.  Twelve years later the couple moved to Wisconsin, settling on a farm in the Town of Holway in 1915, where she made her home until two years ago, at which time she moved to Withee (Clark Co., Wis.) to make her home with her daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Emil A. Hansen and family.

 

Mourning her departure of this aged but cheerful personality are two sons, Eugene, Milwaukee, and Martin of Withee; five daughters, Mrs. Emil (Kathryn) Hansen, Withee, Mrs. Frank (Irja) Smith, Owen, Mrs. Wm. (Gertrude) Smith, Abbotsford, Mrs. Gordon (Ingrid) Hamrick, Curtiss and Mrs. Harold (Edna) Williams, Withee.  Also 18 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

 

Those from away attending the funeral were Sgt. Lloyd Smith, Chandler, Ariz.; Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Keskimaki, Mr. and Mrs. Gene Karba, Jean and Virginia, Adolph Hannula, Richard Kniivila, Mrs. Lempi Hannula, Mrs. Ray Besola, Ishpeming, Mich.; Mrs. Joh Lehtonen, Negaunee, Mich.; Toivo Hannula and Leslie Hannula, Waukegan, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Hill and Sam Keskimaki, Eben Junction, Mich.; Eugene Keskimaki, Marquette, Mich.; Mr. and Mrs. George Hamm, Chippewa Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Walter Maki, Kennon, Wis.; Mr. and Mrs. Richard Hurtienne, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Williams of Medford.
