Peissig, Emery H. "Pete" (October 31, 1910 - June 19, 2009) 
 

Emery H. "Pete" Peissig, age 98, passed away on June 19, 2009.

 
Pete was born on October 31, 1910, in the Town of Hoard, rural Clark County, the son of Herman and Mary (Phahl) Peissig.
 
 

Pete grew up on a farm near Curtiss, along with three sisters and five brothers. He graduated from Owen High School in 1930.  
 

Pete worked as a truck driver for Gross Brothers, the Soo Line, Foremost Dairy and was a partner in the Curtiss Feed Mill.  
 

He married Esther (Hauschildt) on Nov. 27, 1935. They lived in Chippewa Falls and Curtiss while raising two children, Janet and Don.  
 

Pete was an outdoorsman, enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and traveling. He enjoyed all sports and was a avid Green Bay Packers fan. During retirement the Peissigs spent winters in Texas, and moved to a retirement community near Madison in 1997.  
 

Pete was a member of Lakeview American Lutheran Church in Madison and Teamster local 662.

 
He is survived by a daughter, Janet (James) Niederloh of Kenosha; a son, Don (Ruby) Peissig of Nipomo, Calif.; four grandchildren, Karen Hazewinkel, Joel (Angelica) Peissig, 
Thomas (Susan) Niederloh, and Jinger (John) Schroeder; great-grandchildren, Jessica Hazewinkel, Andia and Emerson Niederloh, Pippa Schroeder, and Noah McKee.

 
Pete was preceded in death by his wife Esther.

 
A memorial service will be held at Lakeview American Lutheran Church Chapel, 4001 Mandrake Rd., Madison on Wednesday, June 24, 2009 at 11:30 a.m. with the Rev. James Niederloh presiding. Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service at church. Interment will be at Pine Hill Cemetery, Curtiss, on Thursday, June 25, 2009 at 11:30 a.m.

 
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Lakeview American Lutheran Church, Madison or St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Curtiss. Gunderson East Funeral and Cremation Centers, 5203 Monona Dr. Madison, WI 53716 (608) 221-5420 is assisting the family with arrangements.
