Stowe, Carol (Marriage - 5 Sept. 1953)

Miss Carol Stowe, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Stowe, Unity, became the bride of Melvin Bitter, Abbotsford, during a marriage ceremony Saturday, Sept. 5, at the Loyal Methodist church. The Rev. Willard Mecklenburg officiated.

The bride’s costume was a floor length gown, extending into a chapel train and was made of nylon tulle over the satin skirt, and a fitted lace over satin bodice designed with long sleeves coming to points over the wrists.

The coronation veil was finger-tip length and the shower bridal bouquet consisted of red roses and white carnations and mums. Red rosebuds were tied in the ribbon streamers extending from the bouquet.

A blue, strapless taffeta gown with net overskirt and lace jacket was worn by the maid of honor, Miss Gloria Hebert, Eau Claire. Yellow carnations and white mums fashioned her colonial bouquet.

Carrying identical bouquets were the two bridesmaids, Miss Jeanette Wehrman, Loyal, and Miss Joyce Van Gorder, Eau Claire, who donned light blue frocks made like the maid of honor’s gown.

John Loucks, Abbotsford, was his friend’s best man, and Harlen Laack, Abbotsford, and John Lee Vesseur, Eau Claire, were groomsmen. Performing the ushering duties were David Lindberg and Jack Smith, both of Abbotsford.

Frocks of white taffeta with pale blue net overskirts were worn by the two little flower girls, Patricia and Theresa Bushman, Greenwood, nieces of the bride. They carried bouquets of blue carnations and white mums.

The bride’s mother wore a blue dress with matching accessories and the groom’s mother appeared in a brown dress, also with matching accessories. Each had a corsage of pink roses and white carnations.

The reception, held at the home of the bride’s parents, was followed by a dinner.

Mrs. Bitter is a graduate of the Loyal high school and her husband attended school in Abbotsford before entering the service.

Guests came from Chippewa Falls, Eau Claire, Bloomer, Friendship, Owen, Greenwood, Loyal, and Abbotsford.
