Elizabeth Margaret Berschel, 83, of Medford and fomerly of Owen, died Friday, Aug. 7, 2009, at Memorial Health Center, Medford. 
 

Services are pending. A complete obituary will run in the Monday edition of the Marshfield News-Herald. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home of Owen is assisting the family.

Elizabeth M. "Betty" Berschel, 83, of Medford and formerly of Owen passed away Friday, August 7, 2009, at Memorial Health Center in Medford under the loving care of Hope Hospice. 
 

Betty's funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 12, 2009, at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Owen. The Rev. David Clements will officiate. Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery in the town of Hixon. Visitation will be Wednesday at the funeral home in Owen from noon until time of service. 
 

Elizabeth was born January 21, 1926, in Marshfield, the daughter of Albert and Irna Serley. Betty received her education by attending Marshfield schools, graduating from Marshfield High School. After high school, she met and married Fred Berschel, and together they moved to Westchester, Ill. During that time, Betty worked as a secretary for an insurance agency until the early 1970s, when they moved to Perkinstown, later moving back to the Chicago area for a number of years. After Fred passed away, she moved to Owen, where she met her companion Ross Braithwait; they later moved to Medford. Betty's hobbies included reading, fishing and bird watching, especially hummingbirds. 
 

Elizabeth is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Fred, and her sister, Thelma Harp. 
 

The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home of Owen assisted the family with arrangements.
