Schmitt, Verjean Helen (Marriage - 19
A floor-length net-over-satin gown with a
lace jacket over a lace strapless bodice was worn by Miss Verjean
Helen Schmitt, Colby, when she became the bride of Lawrence Kunze,
Abbotsford, at a 9 o’clock ceremony Aug. 19 in St.
Mary’s Catholic church, Colby.
The Rev. Vincent Schwartz read the
marriage vows for the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alphonse Schmitt and
the son of Joseph Kunze.
The bride held a cascade bouquet of red
roses, gladioli and stephanotis, and her finger-tip veil was
secured in a beaded cap edged with lace as she approached the altar
on the arm of her father.
Miss Mary Ann Schmitt, Evanston, Ill.,
wore an orchid-colored formal of net over taffeta with lace bodice
and bolero jacket and carried a cascade of matching carnations as
she served as maid of honor for her sister. Bridesmaid was Mrs. Ted
Kulas, Abbotsford, sister of the groom, who wore an identically
styled Nile green gown and carried a bouquet of matching
Attendants to the groom were his cousin,
Donald Kunze, Abbotsford, as best man, and the bride’s
brother, Linus Schmitt, as groomsman.
After the ceremony, the bridal couple,
who are both graduates of Colby high school, were feted at a
breakfast at the home of the bride’s parents, and, later at a
dinner and supper at St. Mary’s School gym. They greeted
friends and relatives during a reception at the Schmitt home.
