Ferdinand Hingiss was born in Centerville, Wis., Feb. 10, 1859, and at the age of 19 he came to Clark county. He homesteaded a 120 acre farm four miles west and three-fourths of a mile north of Abbotsford, which he farmed until 1916, when he sold it. After that he made his home for most of the time, with his son, Henry, until 1950, when he went to live with his daughter, Mrs. Fred Ahlhorn, at Wisconsin Dells. Last Oct. 1, he entered the Mary Langan nursing home at Milwaukee, where he died Saturday.

Mr. Hingiss and Anna Becherer, a sister of William and Louis Becherer, were married in 1890. To this union were born eight children, seven of whom survive their parents. The oldest daughter died in infancy.
