Strade, Dolores Audrey (Marriage - 7 May 1955)

Mr. and Mrs. Harold Sandley are at home to friends on a farm near Loyal. Their marriage took place Saturday afternoon at 1:30 in the Evangelical and Reformed church at Colby with the Rev. Victor Grosshuesch officiating.

Miss Dolores Audrey Strade, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Strade of Abbotsford, and Harold Duane Sandley, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Sandley of Unity, repeated their marriage vows in the presence of many relatives and friends.

Chantilly lace combined with nylon tulle over satin was chosen for the bridal gown. A tucked nylon tulle yoke coming to a point in the front and closed with a row of tiny lace covered buttons featured the short sleeved bodice. The bouffant skirt of nylon tulle over satin was waltz length. Completing her costume were matching lace mitts and a circular lace veil embroidered with seed pearls and attached to a tiara. White gardenias and pink carnations composed her bouquet.

As matron of honor, for her sister, Mrs. Alfred Telford, Thorp, also wore a white gown featuring a tiered nylon tulle over taffeta skirt, topped by an Alencon lace short sleeved bodice having a pleated front and a square neckline.

The two bridesmaids, Mrs. Ted Sandley, Madison, a sister-in-law of the groom, and Miss Lois Ann Kademan, Curtiss, a niece of the bride, were attired in white star lace over coral and blue gowns, respectively. Rows of ruffles trimmed the waltz length skirts and matching stoles were worn over the strapless bodices. Each neckline was trimmed with a wreath of roses. Completing their ensembles were matching headdresses. All carried bouquets of pink and white carnations.

A brother-in-law of the bride, Alfred Telford, Thorp, was best man. Groomsmen included the groom’s two brothers, Ted, Madison, and LaVerne, Unity. Serving as ushers were Harold Strade, Curtiss, a cousin of the bride, and Victor Sandley, another brother of the groom.

Completing the wedding party were Sandra Telford, as flower girl, and Brian Watzke, as ring bearer. The former was attired in a net over taffeta gown made by her great grand mother and designed like that of her mother, the matron of honor.

Corsages of pink and white carnations and white accessories accented the navy blue dresses selected by the mothers of the couple.

Festivities of the afternoon included a reception in the afternoon at the Strade home, followed by a supper in the church hall. A dance that evening at Colby Park Pavilion, concluded the event.

Guests at the wedding were from Janesville, Chili, Waunakee, Madison, Unity, Curtiss, Colby, Stevens Point, Oshkosh, Sheboygan, Kiel, Withee, Elkhart Lake, Chippewa Falls, and Abbotsford.
