Fred H. Woempner was born in the town of Mayville Dec. 29, 1886. Mr. Woempner, who combined farming and carpentering, built their first home on a farm in the Town of Mayville, now owned by Ed Brechlin. In 1917, they moved to another farm in the same township and lived there until they sold it in Nov. 1946. They built a new home in Abbotsford and moved to the village in December of 1946.

Mr. Woempner, who had been in failing health with palsey for some time, fell and broke his hip last Dec. 18, and after 12 days of hospitalization, he was cared for at his home. Bedridden the last 18 months, death came Saturday morning.
