Vanderhoof, Dorothy Emily (21 June 1921 -
6 Sept. 2009)
Dorothy Emily Vanderhoof, 88, of Spencer
died Sunday, Sept. 6, 2009, at Saint Joseph's Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m.
Thursday, Sept. 10, 2009, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Spencer. The
Rev. Karl Rose will officiate.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until
time of the service Thursday, Sept. 10, 2009, at Trinity Lutheran
Church, Spencer. Burial will be in the West Spencer Cemetery.
Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home, Spencer, is assisting the family
with arrangements.
Dorothy was born to William and Sophia
(Huber) Oelrich on June 21, 1921, in Spencer. She graduated from
Spencer High School and was joined in marriage to the late Dale
Vanderhoof Sr., on Oct. 15, 1939. Dorothy farmed with Dale in
Spencer and worked at the Gamble Store in Spencer for 20 years.
Dale passed away June 13, 1988.
Dorothy was a member of Trinity Lutheran
Church and the Ladies Aid. Dorothy enjoyed fishing and going to
garage sales with Dale. She also enjoyed putting together puzzles
and crafts, especially making Christmas ornaments for her family as
presents. Her true joy in life were her two cats, Chelsea and
Boots.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter Ellen
(Dennis) Woodkey, Spencer, son Dale Vanderhoof Jr., Marshfield, and
son-in-law Carl Boyles, Withee. She is further survived by 8
grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren,
sister Delores (Kenneth) Wilson, Spencer, sister-in-law Ruby
Johnson, Colby, and many other family and friends.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her beloved husband Dale, daughter Joan Boyles, and her parents.
