Gosse, Melvin (28 Nov. 1902 - 11 Jan. 1954) 
 

Funeral services for Melvin Gosse, 51, who died Thursday evening, Jan. 7, were held Monday, Jan. 11, at the Evangelical and Reformed church, at Colby, at 2:00 o’clock, with the Rev. Victor Grosshuesch officiating. Internment was made in the Colby cemetery. 
 

Mr. Gosse died at St. Joseph’s hospital, Marshfield, following surgery for a ruptured appendix, at 10:00 on Thursday evening. 
 

Pallbearers were Rudy Sterzninger, Gordon Abbeglin, Arnie Dehne, Gary Schmidt, Frederick Dins, and Richard Hermann. 
 

The flowers were carried by Miss Alvina Heise, Mrs. Frederick Dins, Mrs. William Anderson, and Mrs. Edgar Laux. 
 

Among the relatives attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. William Schmitz and son, Lynn, Grafton; Mr. and Mrs. William Hamann, Mrs. George Clark, Mrs. L. Gosse, of Sheboygan; Mr. and Mrs. Otto Stecker, and Victor Richter, of Kiel; William Wohlhaupt, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Wohlhaupt, and Mrs. Charles O’Brien, Antigo; Mr. and Mrs. Dale Horn and family, Mrs. Caroline Horn of Greenwood; Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Nelson, Chippewa Falls; and friends from Neillsville and Thorp. 
 

Melvin Gosse was born at Sheboygan Nov. 28, 1902. 
 

The family moved, in November of 1915, to the farm in the town of Colby where Melvin lived until the time of his death. He attended rural school and the Colby high school. 
 

He is survived by his father, William Gosse, and brother, Clarence, of Route 1, Abbotsford. His mother preceded him in death in 1933.
