Heppner, Robert Carl (1887? - 12 Jan. 1954) 
 

Robert Carl Heppner, 67, died at his home, Tuesday morning, following an extended cancer illness. 
 

A rosary service will be held Thursday evening at 8:00 o’clock at the Lulloff Funeral Home at Colby where the body is lying in state. The funeral mass will be read at St. Bernard’s Catholic church, Abbotsford, Friday morning at 9:30, with the Rev. Raymond Schulz officiating, and internment will be made in St. Mary’s cemetery, at Colby. 
 

Mr. Heppner was born in Germany and came to the United States in 1909. He purchased a meat market in Fond du Lac. He was married there in 1911, to Catherine Stiegenberger, who died in 1931 in Colby. In December, 1933, he was married to Florenteen Clayton. 
 

In 1913, he purchased Joseph Blanchard’s building in Colby and opened a meat market at that location, which he operated until 1916, when he traded it for a farm in the town of Frankfort. He resided on the farm until August, 1952, when he moved to Abbotsford. 
 

He is survived by his wife, five daughters, Mrs. Malcolm (Stella) Lamont, Abbotsford; Mrs. William (Charlotte) G. Borchardt, Edgar; Mrs. Robert (Bernice) Hamilton, Round Lake, Ill.; Mrs. Alphonse (Katherine) Schraufnagel, Colby; and Mrs. Donald (Marie) Halvorson, Wilmington, Del.; one son, Robert C. Heppner, Jr., Abbotsford; and 17 grand children.

Funeral services for Robert Carl Heppner, Sr., of Abbotsford, who died Tuesday, were held Friday, Jan. 11, when a requiem high mass was sung at 9:30 at St. Bernard’s Catholic church, with the Rev. Raymond Schulz officiating. Internment was made in St. Mary’s cemetery, Colby. 
 

Pallbearers were Frank Provinski, Edward Kroplin, Richard Goldschmidt, Albert Podivels, Harry Swoboda, and Otto Brehm. 
 

Out of town relatives and friends attending included Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hamilton and son, Michael, Round Lake, Ill.; Mrs. Donald Halverson and son, David, Wilmington, Del.; Mrs. Fannie Clayton, Mrs. Michael Herdegen, Frank Sausen, Mrs. William Sausen, Miss Rosemarie Fischer, Chicago; Mrs. Florence Yager, Highland Park, Ill.; Mrs. L. E Behrens, Deerfield, Ill.; Mrs. Alice Behm Utpadel and Mrs. Mildred Paetel, Wheeling, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Groth, Merrill; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Schuette, Loyal; Mrs. Rose Vlasnik, Cadott; and many other relatives and friends from surrounding communities.
