Rand, Alvah M. (29 Jan. 1877 - 15 Dec. 1954) 
 

Alvah M. Rand, 77, died Wednesday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Bezak. He was ill only a very short time before death occurred. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 1:30 from the Zink Funeral Home where the body is lying in state. Burial will be made in the Abbotsford cemetery.

Funeral services for Alvah M. Rand who died Wednesday, Dec. 15, were held Friday afternoon at 1:30 o’clock at the Zink Funeral Home. The Rev. Vander Stoep, pastor of the Trinity Lutheran church, at Unity, officiated. Internment was made in the Abbotsford cemetery. 
 

The pallbearersm were B. H. Klinkhammer, Louis Mauritz, Forest Johnson, Ernest Schmelzer, Tony Korntved, and Homer Smith. 
 

Alvah (Brownie) M. Rand was born Jan. 29, 1877, at Brockton, Mass. He was married to Ethel I. Nickerson on Jan. 27, 1898. She died that same year in child birth. In his youth, Mr. Rand was a professional baseball player with the Boston Braves and later with the Eau Claire Braves in the Wisconsin State League. For 45 years, he was an edge trimmer in a shoe factory. 
 

For the past 11 years, Mr. Rand has made his home with the Bezak family. For the past two years he has been in failing health but was ill only a short time before his death at 6:30 Wednesday evening. 
 

There are no known relatives surviving him.
