Hennlich, William Wenzel (24 June 1874 -
11 Mar. 1955)
William Wenzel Hennlich, 80, treasurer of
the town of Holton for nearly 20 years, died at 7:10 a.m. Friday at
the home of his son, Joseph Hennlich, in the town of Mayville,
after a lingering illness.
Mr. Hennlich was born June 24, 1874 in
Komotu, Bohemia, and received his education in Europe. On Oct. 12,,
1894, he came to America and was employed in roller mills for
His marriage to Anna Rucekl took place at
Dorchester July 7, 1897. After the couple moved to Glidden, he
managed a store for a year. In 1936 they operated two farms in the
town of Holton and later went to Wausau, where he was director of
the Agricultural Administration office. In 1947 they built a home
on the farm of their son-in-law, Victor Fierke, and had lived there
He is survived by his wife, five
children, William, Jr., Hans and Mrs. John (Gretchan)
O’Conner, all of Milwaukee; Anthony Hennlich, Curtiss; and
Joseph Hennlich, Dorchester; a sister, Mrs. Ida Eggert, Milwaukee;
22 grand children and 20 great grand children.
A son died in infancy. Two daughters,
Mrs. Victor Fierke and Mrs. Alfred Jensen, four sisters and a
brother also preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held at St. Louis’ Catholic church, Dorchester, Tuesday morning at 9:30 o’clock with the Very Rev. Msgr. Thomas Hayden officiating at a requiem high mass. Burial was made in the Memorial cemetery.
