Stasila, Jean Ann (16 August 1919 - 24 September 2009)  
 

Jean A. Stasila, age 90, of Thorp passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2009 at Oakbrook Health & Rehab in Thorp.  
 

Funeral services were held on Monday, September 28, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church in Thorp with Rev. Keith Apfelbeck officiating.  Burial followed in St. Bernard’s Catholic Cemetery. 
 

Pallbearers were: Ron Malecki, Craig Stasila, Rich Tyler, John Lorenz, Bernd Huber, and Ken Machynia.   
 

Visitation was held on Monday, September 28, 2009 from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at the Church. 
 

Jean Ann Warzecha was born on August 16, 1919 in Gary, Indiana to Walter and Eva (Dija) Warzecha.  As a young child, Jean’s family moved to Chicago, IL, where she received her education.  She was united in marriage to Casey Stasila on October 12, 1940 in Chicago.  After her marriage, Jean worked in a sewing factory and grocery store until her family moved to Thorp, WI in November 1951.  Casey and Jean farmed until 1966.  Jean continued to live on the farm until she suffered a stroke in December 1995.  She then moved to Oakbrook Health & Rehab in May 1996 where she resided until her death. 
 

She was a member of St. Bernard-St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church and its Parish Council of Catholic Women. 
 

In her spare time, Jean loved to sew, bake pies, garden, and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. 
 

Jean is survived by her two children: Patricia (Kenneth) Malecki and William (Carol) Stasila both of Thorp; four grandchildren: Eva Malecki of Alexandria, VA, Ron Malecki of Olympia, WA, Sara (Bernd Huber) Weisensel of Franklin, WI, and Craig (Laura) Stasila of Indianapolis, IN; and two great-grandchildren: Trinity and Genevieve Weisensel. She is further survived by one brother, Louis Warzecha of Chicago, IL; two sisters-in-law: Helen Warzecha of Des Plaines, IL and Evelyn Warzecha of Itasca, IL; many nieces, nephews and friends. 
 

Jean was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Casey on March 10, 1996; four brothers: Joseph Warzecha, John Warzecha, Mitchell Warzecha, and Edward Warzecha; and three sisters-in-law: Mary Ann Warzecha, Lorraine Warzecha, and Jenne Kroner.
