Rayhorn, Marjorie Marie  (10 Aug. 1946

The First Methodist church in Marshfield was the scene of a pretty mid-summer wedding on Saturday afternoon, Aug. 10, when Miss Marjorie Marie Rayhorn, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Loy Rayhorn of Marshfield exchanged vows with Harvey Earle Zillmer of Milwaukee, son of Mrs. Alma Zillmer of Los Angeles, Cal. and grandson of Mrs.Bertha Bork of Milwaukee, with whom he makes his home.

The double ring ceremony was performed by the Rev. Raymond B. Fleming at 3 o’clock before the altar adorned with baskets of garden flowers and lighted tapers in Cathedral candelabra.

Mrs. Melvin Marvin sang "The Lord’s Prayer" and "I Love You Truly." She was accompanied by Miss Betty Greenwood who also played a prelude of organ music and the wedding marches. Mr. Rayhorn presented his daughter in marriage.

Aug.10 was also the 28th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Gerdes of Spokeville, uncle and aunt of the bride, who wore also in attendance at the wedding.

Mrs. Geraldine Zehner of Milwaukee, a sister of the groom, dressed in a pink net frock and blusher veil caught to a wreath of flowers, was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Carol Rayhorn, a sister of the bride and Miss Ruth Maxwell of Milwaukee, who wore dresses of blue and yellow net over taffeta. Matching veils caught in floral wreaths completed their costumes. All three carried pink roses and white gladioli, with ribbons to march their dresses and wore pearl necklaces.

Dianne Zehner, a niece of the groom, in a white net dress and short veil caught to a spray of wwhite flowers and carrying a colonial nosegay of pink roses and white gladioli, was flower girl. Terry Cole, cousin of the bride, carried the rings on a satin pillow.

The bride’s gown was white satin and net. The embroidered bodice buttoned down the back and was designed with a sweetheart neckline and long sleeves coming to  points over the wrists, The bouffant skirt extended into a short chapel train. Her veil of illusion was attached to a tiara of seed pearls. The pearl necklace she wore belonged to the bridegroom’s mother. She carried a shower bouquet of red roses and white carnations tied with satin ribbons.

Russell Rayhorn, a brother of the bride, was best man. Groomsmen were Gerald Sutton of Milwaukee, a cousin of the groom, and John Gerdes of Spokville, a cousin of the bride. Richard Sutton of Milwaukee ushered.

Mrs. Rayhorn watched her daughter’s wedding in a black dress, trimmed with white sequins, with which she wore white accessories. Pink roses were pined to her shoulder. The groom’s mother was unable to attend. Mrs. Bork, the bridegroom’s grandmother, was present in a black and white ensemble and wore a corsage of pink roses.

Pink, blue and yellow streamers decorated the Rayhorn home, where a reception and supper were held following the ceremony. The table was centered with a three tiered wedding cake.

Mrs. Zillmer was graduated from the Marshfield high school with the class of 1943 and for the past years has been employed in Milwaukee.

Her husband is a graduate of North Division high school, Milwaukee. He spent five years in the armed service during which time he was stationed with the army in both the Atlantic and Pacific theaters of operations. He is now employed by the Mid-State Shoe Company in Milwaukee.

After a honeymoon spent in southern Wisconsin, they are now at home to friends at 1332 West Chambers street, Milwaukee.
