Haslow, Mary Ellen (Marriage - 22 August 1953)

Miss Mary Ellen Haslow, Chili, and Robert C. Reitz, Marshfield, were married August 22, in Emmanuel Church of Chili.  The bride, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Haslow of Chili, was given in marriage by her father.  The Rev. R. H. Browe, pastor of the church, performed the ceremony.

The bride’s gown of white satin was fashioned with a Chantilly lace bodice having a rounded neckline and sleeves that came to a point at the wrists.  Four rows of lace extended down the front of the skirt and edged the train of the gown.  Her illusion veil fell in folds from a tiny lace cloche which was embroidered with seed pearls.  Her crescent bouquet was a white orchid surrounded by sprigs of stephanotis.

Miss Barbara Haslow served her sister as maid of honor.  Misses Ardith Lindow and Jeannine Storm of Chili were her bridesmaids.

Jack Olson of Fond du Lac was the groom’s best man.  Kenneth Haslow and Richard Seidl ushered.

The altar railing of the church was banked with gladioli, interspersed with greens.  The approach to the sanctuary was marked by tall lighted candelabra.

Mr. and Mrs. Reitz are both graduates of the Marshfield High School and both will continue this fall with their studies at the University of Wisconsin.

The young couple greeted more than 150 guests at a reception held in the garden of the bride’s parents in Chili.  A buffet supper was served to the guests by Mrs. William Allen, Marshfield, and Miss Patricia Gallagher, who poured coffee.  The wedding cake was served by two sisters of the groom, Mrs. Gene Kleinschmidt, Appleton, and Mrs. Herbert Hash of Great Lakes, Ill.

Mr. and Mrs. Reitz are spending their honeymoon at a cottage in the northern part of the state and upon their return will reside at 1325 Vilas Ave. Madison.

Mr. and Mrs. Haslow entertained the immediate families and members of he wedding party Friday evening at a 6:30 rehearsal dinner.

Guests were from Omro, Milwaukee, Fond du Lac, Appleton, Weyauwega and Great Lakes, Ill.
